指導分野：Pre-service Teacher Education, Motivation and Language Acquisition, Content and Language Integrated Learning
In Richard Caraker’s Seminar in Linguistics 1/2, you will learn how theories of educational psychology connect to teaching methods and classroom activities; you will understand different theories of second language acquisition (SLA); and you will see how English teaching approaches in other countries can be adapted to language classes in Japan.
Richard Caraker’s seminar will also give you opportunities to actually put into practice the language theories, methods, and activities that you studied. All students will be a “teacher,” and give mini English language lessons to their “students.”
Richard Caraker’s seminar will allow you to practice and improve your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. In the third year, you will participate in many small group discussions, give oral presentations, read various articles, watch videos on language teaching, and write two 5-page research papers.
Finally, in your fourth year, you will write a 25-page research paper in English on a topic related to language education.
